Hey There!

At the heart of Sylvan Wood Publishing is one truth; all ideas begin as seeds. With the right environment, these seeds can propssper and grow. Our director Sylvan has seen it before; how those within communities are not given chances, or access to their dreams. He’s someone who’s walked the winding path between worlds, where stories take root, and where others become forgotten or abused.

He’s here to build something lasting: a home for the misunderstood, the imaginative, and the ones who create simply because they must. We believe in Sylvan Wood Publishing that creatives deserve to be liberated from any obstacle, and from those who would exploit their creativity for absurd profit margins.

What began as an idea became a refuge—for artists, writers, and anyone brave enough to follow their creative instincts into the dark, where the real magic lives.

The Seed Behind It All

Julio Gonzalez is a social work student at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern based in Laredo, Texas. With experience in both outpatient and inpatient substance abuse treatment, Julio has worked with adults and adolescents, offering support through mental health services, HIV and Hepatitis C testing, and case management.

But his mission goes beyond clinical care.

Julio’s ultimate goal is to open a community-centered treatment facility—a safe, creative space for healing that blends traditional support with alternative, evidence based therapies like art, writing, and play. Rooted in compassion and accessibility, the facility will serve individuals from all walks of life, with a focus on youth and underserved populations. It will be a place where trauma can be processed through expression, where creativity becomes a tool for recovery, and where no one is made to feel invisible.

A lifelong writer and artist himself, Julio also dreams of launching a publishing platform to uplift creatives who feel stuck due to obstacles blocking the path to their dreams. His work is grounded in the belief that healing and hope can come from community, creativity, and the courage to reimagine what treatment can look like.
